About New Games Guide
New Games Guide is an independent guides site covering the games people are actively searching for — new releases, big patches and the problems that come with both.
What we do#
We publish three kinds of page, and we try to be honest about which is which:
Fix guides. Something is broken and you want it working. These are ordered checklists, cheapest fix first, with a short explanation of why each step works so you can stop as soon as you understand your own case.
Strategy and build guides. How to get better at a game without reading a forum for an hour.
Release and update trackers. Dates, times, platform differences and what changed — the factual stuff that is easy to get wrong and easy to check.
How we work#
We reproduce before we publish. If a fix appears in a guide here, someone on the team hit the problem and watched the fix work. Where we could not confirm a step ourselves — because it depends on hardware we do not have, or a bug we could not trigger — we say so on the page rather than presenting it as tested.
We date everything. Every page carries a "last updated" stamp. Games change under you: a fix that worked in one patch can be unnecessary or actively wrong two patches later, and an undated guide gives you no way to judge that.
We revisit after patches. Guides for actively updated games are re-checked after major updates. When something changes materially, we update the page and move the date rather than quietly editing around it.
We do not pad. No five-hundred-word introduction before the answer. The fix goes near the top, the reasoning goes below it.
What we get wrong#
Everyone covering launch-week games gets things wrong sometimes — information is thin, patches land daily, and the community consensus on day two is frequently overturned by day five. What we can commit to is correcting quickly and visibly rather than silently.
If you find something wrong, tell us. Corrections from readers who actually hit the bug are the most valuable thing we receive, and we credit them where the reader wants credit.
How this site is funded#
Advertising, and affiliate links which are labelled where they appear. Nothing on this site is paywalled or gated behind a login, and no publisher pays for coverage or for a particular verdict.
Who we are not#
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any game publisher or platform holder. Game names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. When we describe what a developer has said, we link to where they said it.
