Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

SymphonyRecomp: safe download, widescreen and randomizer guide

**SymphonyRecomp is a fan-made native PC recompilation based on the PlayStation version of Symphony of the Night.** It is separate from Konami and does not make the original game data free to distribute.

Safe setup checklist#

  1. Open the official SymphonyRecomp GitHub repository and read its current release and setup notes.
  2. Download only from a release linked by that repository; avoid repacks and anonymous mirrors.
  3. Provide the legally owned game data requested by the project. The repository, not a third-party video, defines the supported format.
  4. Launch once at default settings before enabling widescreen or a randomizer. This makes troubleshooting much easier.

Widescreen and randomizer#

Widescreen support changes the visible play area, so edge cases can appear in rooms originally authored for a 4:3 frame. If geometry or effects look wrong, return to the default aspect ratio before reporting a bug. Randomizer behavior can vary by seed and project version; record both when asking for help.

What “native PC port” means here#

A recompilation translates original program logic into code that runs on a modern platform. It is not the same as emulating the original console, and it is not an official commercial PC edition. That distinction matters for support, controller behavior, save compatibility and legal ownership of the required assets.

Source check#

Verified August 7, 2026 against the active project repository and a dated GamesRadar report. For later changes, the repository takes precedence.
